Agecies Offer Free Developmental Screenings for Children

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Local organization are coming together to offer free developmental screenings to infants, toddlers and preschool children in Leon and other Florida big bend counties on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Children’s Medical Services, 2390 Phillips Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.

According to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), the screenings will assess a child's vision, dental, hearing, speech, language, cognitive behavior, growth and motor skills. The purpose is to find and address developmental delays so early intervention can be provided.

The screenings are available from from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 and are free for any parent who makes an appointment. To do so, call (850) 487-2630, extension 0.

The screenings are provided by a partnership between Whole Child Leon, the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources Center, the Capital Area Chapter of the Florida Association of Infant Mental Health and Children's Medical Services, DCF, Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend and more.
