Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)--The Capital City is going International! The 2016 globalFEST stopped through Cascades Park Friday night.
The music festival now in its 13th year is on the road for the first time, stopping in Tallahassee as part of FSU's opening nights.
This year's theme? Creole Carnival. It's all about honoring the roots of African music through the celebration of "Carnival", the global pre-lent festival.
Organizers say that alone is everyone's favorite excuse for a party.
"They're bringing Haitian culture, Brazilian culture and Jamaican culture as one performance on the road, all over the globe all over the country. We're really excited to bring it here and get a grant from COCA here locally so that we can put on the performance for free here for our community at Cascades Park", Christopher Heacox, FSU's Opening Nights.
globalFEST is a non-profit organization that encourages cultural understanding through music. The tour continues Saturday in Miami.
