Valdosta, Ga. (WTXL) - The South Georgia String Project at Valdosta State University will host an in-house event for its beginner class at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, in the Fine Arts Building Choir Room. Attendees will have an opportunity to see the group rehearse and then perform a mini concert.
Families of prospective school-age students are invited to attend.
The South Georgia String Project is a joint venture of the VSU Department of Music and the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. It provides “an after-school music program where students can easily access low-cost stringed instrument instruction,” as well as “a valuable, mentored teaching experience for music students at VSU.”
The American String Teacher Association named the South Georgia String Project the 2011 National String Project of the Year.
The Fine Arts Building is located at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and Oak Street.
Parking will be available in the surface lot next to the Fine Arts Building and across Oak Street next to the multi-level parking deck.
