Ocklocknee, Ga. (WTXL)-- It's the latest trend in the housing market; tiny houses, and they could be coming to Tallahassee.
The CEO of the Kearney Center is looking to develop an affordable housing community called "The Dwellings".
But before that community takes shape, we took a look at a local company who has been building tiny houses for a decade.
Pinnacle Park homes in Ocklocknee, Georgia has been in business for almost thirteen years and they say they were hip to the trend long before it started making waves.
Everyone from millennials to those getting ready to retire are looking to downsize. So while they look small on the outside, Pinnacle Park Homes says the tiny homes pack big benefits.
"It's a great starter home for kids a lot of college students and young couples. They put it in the back of mamma and daddy's property on some acreage and able to get a start on owning a home versus paying rent and something that's affordable", Andy Davis.
However, that's not all, people who have a tiny home say it's all about learning to live with the basics. And don't be fooled, taking on a tiny home is a big project. Davis says it's important to know what you're getting into and finding a trusted contractor.
