TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- One part of the Capital City continues to see more companies set up shop: Bannerman Crossings.

For Ponderosa Junction, it was time to grow. The Midtown-based store added a second location at Bannerman Crossings last week.

"We really needed a furniture store out this way," said new store manager Susan Smith-Perryman, crediting owners Alicia and Vince Cartwright with the move. "So, we thought this would be a great opportunity."

It's an opportunity that several stores are finding works for them. McGowan's Hops & Grapes opened its doors in January.

"We were expecting to be a bar with just a little bit of food, but now, people actually come here to eat and enjoy our beer and wine on top of our great menu," said owner Robin McGowan.

Last month, Dao, an Asian restaurant from the owners of Masa and Azu Lucy Ho's, opened at Bannerman Crossings.

Developers have plans to expand to the other side of Bannerman Road. Businesses say this part of town is becoming much more self-sufficient.

"This is an area of town where everyone would come back from work and then get back in their cars and drive back downtown or to Midtown to enjoy the things that offered right here at Bannerman Crossings," McGowan said.

"Everybody is having businesses out here right now, and it's just booming," Smith-Perryman said. "Restaurants are coming in, other stores are coming in. It seems like it's going to be a wonderful choice. I think we're really going to enjoy it."
