TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - It's no secret that North Florida and South Georgia has an amazingly vibrant beer culture and is in the midst of a booming industry when it comes to Brewing Craft Beer. And with the growth of one product comes the need for another. Growler stations have quickly become the one-stop shop for folks looking for variety when testing their palate.
Growlers have been used to carry beer since the 1800's, but the methods for filling them have improved drastically since then. More recently Craft Beer has sparked beer-to-go concept places like Growler Country.
Byron Burroughs with Proof Brewing CO. says, "It's a product that is fantastic at developing community and support across the state, across the country and even across the world."
The Growler business has seen success in other states including California and Oregon. Michael Carbonell with Growler Country says, Florida is a great incubator for growth in the industry. And as options for beer grow, he believes so will his clientele.
Carbonell says, "We've got 32 Taps of Craft Beer that are from all over the country. From here in Tallahassee all the way to California and they rotate pretty regularly. There are like minded people here and when they're here they talk about beer. We have community tables where you get a real good sense of people interacting with each other."
The digital menu board offers several features including the name and style of the beer, the APV or alcohol percentage per volume, which glass it should be served in and how fresh the keg is.
Carbonell says, "You can come in and sample what you want to put in your growler. You can consume on premises, so you can come in and have a pint."
And it's not just Craft Libations that are offered. They've got root beer for kids, Lucky Goat Coffee, which is a locally owned cold pressed coffee and they've added two wine taps.
For Carbonell the future business of Craft Beer seems bright, "You have a booming industry, where breweries are opening up daily in Florida and it's not going to slow down."
According to the Brewers Association, Florida ranks 5th in the country when it comes to Craft Beer production.
