TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- One of the many snacks that can be found in my home around the holidays is something my family calls Hospital Candy. It can be easily described as an alternative to a Rice Krispy Treat, and just like Rice Krispy Treats, this is a dish that children can help put together. These treats are quick and fun to put together…..and they tend to disappear even faster.

My grandmother loved to spend time in the kitchen and prepared hundreds of different things, but these simple little candies have always been the most memorable.

You’ll need:

-1 cup sugar

-1 cup light corn syrup

-1 cup creamy peanut butter

-6 cups cornflakes

Directions:

-Combine sugar, corn syrup and peanut butter in a large saucepan. Heat until mixture comes to a boil around the edges of the pan, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in cornflakes.

-Drop cookies (using about 2 tablespoons for each) onto waxed paper. Let cool. Store in airtight container.

-This is a great no-bake cookie for kids just learning to cook!
