TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A pedestrian was struck and killed on Capital Circle Southwest Thursday morning, causing the roads to close during morning rush hour traffic.
Leon County deputies say they received a call at about 5:30 a.m. that a man was walking in the road on Capital Circle. Moments later, at 5:32 a.m., deputies received a call that the man had been hit by a vehicle.
When they arrived on scene, they discovered that a 2005 Gold Kia Rio hit the pedestrian in the northbound lane of the highway. The man was reportedly knocked into the southbound lane of traffic, where several other cars hit him.
Officials closed most of the road and Blountstown Highway to investigate the crash. The area will remain closed for another hour, according to sheriff's officials. According to the City of Tallahassee, Orange and Lake Bradford Roads are alternate routes, as well as Capital Circle Southeast.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the crash is still under investigation.
Deputies say they currently do not know the man's identity.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Leon County deputies are investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened near the intersection of Capital Circle Southwest and Blountstown Highway.
As a result, deputies say the road will be blocked during rush hour traffic Thursday morning.
According to deputies, the accident happened around 5:30 a.m, just south of Highway 20 (Blountstown Highway) on Capital Circle. A pedestrian was reportedly hit and killed by a vehicle.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area due to the road blockage. If you're attempting to go to the Tallahassee Regional Airport and surrounding areas, officials say that it will be necessary to take an alternate route.
Officials expect the intersection to remain closed for the next two hours.
