TALLAHASSEE, Fla (TPD)--The Tallahassee Police Department and other law enforcement agencies all throughout Florida will be teaming up to remind people to buckle up...every trip, every time. TPD plans to kick off the "Click it or Ticket" enforcement campaign on March 1. Officers will be working around the clock to enforce and remind all motorist to buckle up.
Florida is a primary seat-belt enforcement state, meaning you can be stopped simply for not wearing your seat-belt. The fine for a seat-belt violation in Leon County is $123 dollars and $173 dollars for a child seat violation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 25% of all Florida traffic fatalities in 2011 were a result of occupants not wearing their seat-belts.
