TALLAHASSEE,Fla.(BOUNCE)--Tacara Shivers rescued two dogs when they were both puppies and now the three of them are the best of companions.

“After I got Marlee, I started working full-time and I also started going to school full-time. So I was never really home and I know she was kind of lonely. So I felt like she needed somebody to uplift her, somebody to play with,” said Shivers.

She had Marlee for just one year, until she came across another puppy in need of a good home. Rajah is her male Plott Hound/German Shepard mix and Marlee is a female pure bred yellow Labrador. The two were both rescue animals at a young age, Marlee was only a couple months old and Rajah was 9 weeks.

“Marlee was a little bit bigger, she was probably about 4 months when I got her pretty long and lengthy; she was a good length. Rajah on the other hand was teeny—tiny, he was fat and he would just fit in the ball of my hand, he was so cute,” Shivers said.

Even though Marlee and Rajah are different breeds, they are still able to get along and have a fun with each other, especially when Marlee wants to be playful.

“Marlee is very, very hyper, adventurous, she likes to jump around and play. She’s a little bit bigger than Rajah, so she can tend to kind of over bares him,” Shivers said.

Caring for two large dogs can be a challenge but Shivers says her only minor challenge is walking both Rajah and Marlee at the same time. Aside from that, every moment with the two of them is pleasurable for her.

“My dogs bring so much happiness and so much love to my life, without them I would probably be very lonely. They’re very good companions, they listen; the best listeners you’ll ever have. They comfort, they’re never sad, they’re always smiling and they bring a lot of love and light to my life,” says Shivers.

Rescuing Marlee and Rajah really has been one of the best feelings for Tacara, and even though they appreciate each other’s company, leaving time to be alone is always important.

"They have their alone time and then they have their together time, but the together time is really something special,” said Shivers.
