GADSDEN CO., Fla. -- Talquin Electric Cooperative is issuing a precautionary boil water notice for its water members in the western Gadsden County service area.

Crews reportedly found a main break on Hardaway Road, which affects water services from Haraway Road south, along Drew Haire Road and Hannah Mill Pond Road to the Greensboro Highway. The area continues further south to around Harbin Rd, Hosford Hwy, Ben Bostick, Atlanta St, Frank Jackson, South of I-10, Providence, Sawdust, Juniper Creek, Old Federal Hwy, Pat Thomas Prky, and Spooner Rd. Members around Lake Talquin may be affected as well.

Only members of Talquin Electric Cooperative are required to boil water before ingesting it. Those affected should bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute, and let it cool before using it for drinking or cooking.

Talquin officials say they're working to correct the probem; however, due to the large area that is affected, service may return slowly. After the main is repaired, workers will collect water samples to make sure it is safe to drink. Results are expected within 48 hours.
