PAHOKEE, Fla. (AP) - Investigators say a 7-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot by another child inside a Florida home.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in an email that the shooting happened Wednesday night in Pahokee, which is west of West Palm Beach on Lake Okeechobee. She says investigators learned two children were playing with a loaded gun inside the home.
Barbera says the child was taken by helicopter to a hospital where he remained in critical but stable condition on Thursday.
Authorities haven't said whether an adult was at home when the shooting occurred.
The age of the other child involved hasn't been released.
