ATLANTA (AP) - Police say a 5-year-old boy was shot in the back when someone opened fire with a rifle outside an Atlanta apartment complex.
Local news organizations report the boy was recovering at a local hospital Monday after he was shot overnight.
Atlanta police officer Kim Jones says investigators Sunday night found 16 shell casings from a rifle outside the apartment where the boy lives with his mother, as well as holes in the walls, windows and front door.
Police say two men were also wounded by bullets along the same street when the shooting erupted. Both were taken on a hospital for treatment.
No arrests had been announced in the case Monday afternoon.
