PALATKA, Fla. (AP) - An 11-year-old boy is in custody after authorities say he strangled a 4-year-old boy at a north Florida mobile home park.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded Tuesday to the Westover mobile home park in Palatka where they found the younger boy unconscious. Deputies attempted CPR, but the child was pronounced dead shortly after noon.
Deputies reported finding strangulation marks left by the 11-year-old boy on the 4-year-old boy's neck. The Florida Times-Union reports that the older boy was taken to a juvenile detention facility and charged with aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm. Investigators didn't immediately have a motive for the attack.
Officials say the two boys were living in the same home because their mothers were partners. Two younger children not involved in the attack were removed from the home.
