Tropical Weather-Pacific for Monday, February 18, 2019

—————

Eastern Pacific:

There is no Eastern Pacific tropical discussion at this time.

Western Pacific:

Tropical development likely this week

As of Monday morning, EST, an area of tropical low pressure was located across Micronesia, well to the southeast of Guam.

Latest satellite imagery shows a broad area of low pressure, though a single low-level center of circulation is hard to pick out from the scattered convection. Due to warm sea-surface temperatures

and low vertical wind shear, this system is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone by Tuesday as it continues to move westward over the next few days.

In the longer range, this tropical threat could bring impacts to Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands by the weekend.

Southern Pacific:

No new information for this time period.
