PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) - A southwest Florida airport is getting some help from a few four-legged friends to help ease travelers' stress.

Punta Gorda Airport kicked off their program Monday. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports it's one of about 20 airports nationwide partnering with therapy dogs.

Fansee, an English cream golden retriever wearing a pink sequin hat and Gunner, a greyhound chocolate lab mix, happily greeted passengers this week. The dogs are trained to comfort people in high-stress situations such as hospitals, courtrooms and nursing homes.

The airport's executive assistant Jennifer Smith says not everyone at the airport is going on a vacation. Some are heading to nerve-wrecking business meetings and some are leaving loved ones behind. She said children may have an especially hard time with what's on the other side of the runway.
