The Nation's Weather for Sunday, February 17, 2019
—————
NATIONAL SUMMARY
While New England ends the weekend on a dry and chilly note,
a storm will cause snow to sweep and cause slippery travel
from the northern Plains to Pennsylvania today. Rain will
soak the lower Ohio and Tennessee valleys. In between the
rain and snow, there can be a wintry mix in the upper Ohio
Valley. The rain may also begin as ice along the I-81
corridor of Virginia. A few rain showers may stretch down to
the upper Gulf Coast. The Florida Peninsula will escape the
showers, allowing very warm air to prevail instead. Some
record highs will be challenged. On the other side of the
country, frigid air will have a firm grip on the Northwest.
Fresh chilly air will also pour across the West Coast as
another storm brings rain showers to the lowest elevations
with snow falling in the Sierra and foothills.
