The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, February 13, 2019
—————
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Cold, gusty winds will follow the recent storm with snow and
ice over the Midwest and mid-Atlantic today. The winds can
trigger additional power outages where trees are still
covered with ice. Heavy snow and ice will continue to fall
over northern New England for a time. Rain showers are in
store for South Florida ahead of an area of cooler, drier
air that will extend over the interior South. Milder air is
forecast to build over the central and southern Plains ahead
of a batch of snow for parts of the northern Plains and
Rockies. As one storm brings snow to part of the interior
West, a new storm will focus on California with drenching
rain in the lower elevations and heavy snow in the
mountains. Flash flooding and mudslides are expected as well
as an increased threat of avalanches in the mountains.
