NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a storm brings some snow to the northern tier of the
Northeast today, rain showers will occur farther south in
milder air from New England to the mid-Atlantic, the
Appalachians and the Gulf coast. Warmth will build over the
Southeast. A push of colder air and snow will extend from
Montana to part of northern Kansas and Missouri with an icy
mix zone in store farther south across Missouri to southern
Illinois. This snow will streak eastward across the Ohio
Valley tonight with rain and a wintry mix for parts of the
Tennessee Valley. In the West, areas of rain are forecast to
continue to soak the Pacific coast from California to much
of Washington. Heavy snow will fall over the Sierra Nevada
and southern Cascades. Spotty snow will dot areas throughout
the Intermountain West.
