NATIONAL SUMMARY
A storm will spread heavy snow from part of the northern
Plains to the upper Great Lakes region today. A narrow zone
of ice is forecast from parts of Iowa to the northern part
of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and across northern New
England. Soaking rain with localized flooding will spread
from the middle Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley and
central Appalachians. The risk of severe thunderstorms will
shift eastward from southern Missouri, Arkansas and
northeastern Texas during the day to the Ohio and Tennessee
valleys at night. The greatest risks from the storms will be
for damaging wind gusts and flash flooding. Warmth is
forecast to hold over the Southeast as Arctic air plunges
over the Plains. A storm with rain and snow will approach
the coastal Northwest.
