The Nation's Weather for Friday, February 8, 2019
—————
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a potent storm travels into southeastern Canada, the
counterclockwise flow around the system will direct a blast
of Arctic air from the Plains to the Midwest and much of the
Appalachians today. Temperatures will drop by 25-50 degrees
from their peak earlier this week. Wind, cold air and other
factors will make it feel like it is below zero degrees
Fahrenheit from the northern Plains to the Upper Midwest.
Sharply colder air will reach much of the the Atlantic coast
tonight. Lake-effect snow is in store over the Upper Midwest
in the wake of the snow, ice and rain from Thursday. Rain is
forecast to leave New England. While much of the Plains,
Rockies and Southwest will be dry, a new cold storm from the
Pacific will spread some rain but mostly snow over the
Northwest with locally heavy accumulations in store.
