FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A teen has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for her part in the stabbing death of an elderly man who caught her and her boyfriend squatting in a Florida Panhandle home.

Northwest Florida Daily News (https://goo.gl/DFhQuD) reports that Hayley Bowden was sentenced Tuesday. She had previously pleaded guilty to felony murder, burglary and grand theft.

Prosecutors say Bowden was 16 years old when she and her boyfriend, then-22-year-old Crispin Ramirez, began staying at a Mossy Head home. The home's caretaker, Arthur Anderson, found the couple, and they stabbed him multiple times.

Ramirez was previously sentenced to life in prison for his part in the slaying.
