TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee International Airport has been selected to host the 14th Sixel Airports Conference in 2016.

The conference will take place in the spring and is estimated to infuse $90,000 into the Tallahassee tourism market. There will be representatives in the Capital City from all over the nation to attend to the three-day conference.

“Serving as the host city for the 2016 Sixel Airports Conference is a huge opportunity moment for Tallahassee,” Mayor Andrew Gillum said. “The ability we will have to showcase our community to airline planners, executives and professionals from around the country will help us as we continue to take bold steps to develop our own globally connected airport.”

Sixel Consulting Group is an airport consulting firm that specializes in small- and medium-sized airports. The group says their goal is to connect communities around the world by focusing on air service development.

“We are thrilled to announce Tallahassee as the location of the Spring 2016 Sixel Airports Conference,” Mark Sixel said. “We have been working with the Tallahassee International Airport on air service development and branding efforts for many years, and we are excited about this opportunity to bring airline and airport planners to the capital of Florida. Chris Curry and the entire team at TLH have been great to work with.”
