PIERRE PART, La. (AP) - Authorities say a man and woman led Assumption Parish officers on a 15-mile high-speed chase involving a stolen car.

Multiple news outlets report 20-year-olds Elijah Evenson and Chelsea Michelle Ellington are each facing multiple charges including resisting an officer after the chase on Tuesday.

Sherriff Leland Falcon said the encounter started in White Castle when deputies attempted to stop the pair for a traffic violation. The suspects fled the scene moments later. The chase ended in Pierre Part.

Officials say the car was reported stolen from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Deputies are investigating to see if either suspect has any outstanding charges.

It is not clear if either Evenson or Ellington has an attorney.
