MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - The Satanic Temple is hoping to begin operations of its "After School Satan" club at schools nationwide, including one in suburban Atlanta.
Media outlets report Cobb County's Still Elementary was listed on the group's website as one of the schools it has approached to offer its curriculum.
The Satanic Temple's goal is to counter faith-based groups that work with schools. The group's website says the clubs will promote a focus on rationalism and science. It says it does not promote worshipping the devil.
Cobb County school spokeswoman Donna Lowry says in a statement that none of the district schools have Satan clubs including Still, nor have officials been contacted by anyone to establish one.
Lowry adds that the school and school district do not endorse Satan clubs.
