Posted

VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida woman died after her SUV went into a canal and overturned.

Treasure Coast Newspapers reports that Vero Beach police identified the victim Tuesday as 40-year-old Patricia Castle.

Police say the woman's silver SUV was spotted partially submerged in the canal early Monday morning. Crash investigators say the vehicle had been traveling westbound on a state road when it went around the guardrail and tumbled into the steep canal. The SUV was on its roof with the front seats underwater.

Castle was the only person in the SUV. Investigators believe the crash happened Sunday evening or early Monday morning.
