SMYRNA, Ga. (AP) - A person accused of stealing a car with a child inside from a Cobb County gas station has been arrested, and more suspects are being sought.
Smyrna Police Officer Louis Defense tells media outlets that the child's father stopped at a QuickTrip Tuesday night and exited the car, at which time someone jumped into the driver's seat and drove off with the child in the back.
Defense says the suspect led police on a short chase, which ended in a crash. The child wasn't hurt.
During the pursuit, police say officers realized the car was being following by a second vehicle with several people inside.
When the crash happened, officials say those in the second car fled on foot.
The unidentified suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle was arrested.
