KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - A Kennesaw woman has been arrested after police say she left her 2-year-old child home while taking her 4-year-old child to day care, all while under the influence.
According to a report from the Kennesaw Police Department, Latanya Downer "appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance" when she dropped her daughter off at a daycare on Feb. 17. The report says Downer was nodding off and nearly hit her head on a counter.
A staff member drove Downer to her Kennesaw home, and found a 2-year-old child asleep on the couch. Police say no one else was home.
The three children were taken into state custody and Downer was arrested and charged with cruelty to children. She wasn't charged with DUI.
It's unclear if Downer has an attorney.
