JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a pool in suburban Atlanta.
Local news outlets report that Clayton County police say the incident happened Wednesday evening at the Pointe Clear Apartments in Jonesboro.
Police say the child was at the pool with his family when, at some point, the boy's mother told officers that she couldn't find her son.
After going to her apartment to look for the child, the woman returned to the pool area where police say someone was performing CPR on the boy, who had been pulled from the water.
The child was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
WGCL-TV reports police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury says the drowning appears to be accidental. No charges are pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
