SMRYNA, Ga. (AP) - Police say suburban Atlanta pastor has been charged with sexually abuse of a 10-year-old girl who was staying his ministry's homeless shelter.

Local news media report Cobb County police say Danny Wells was arrested Thursday on charges of rape and aggravated child molestation. An investigation began in Alabama after the girl told police she was sexually abused by Wells at The Garden Recovery Center in Smyrna, Georgia.

Wells is the founder of 7 Bridges to Recovery ministry.

The shelter's website says it's a home for 105 women and children, offering a program for 25 men who have been rescued from the streets.

Police say Wells lived at the shelter.

Wells is being held at the Cobb County Jail with no bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
