PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) - Students across the country are setting up voter registration booths in lunchrooms, hallways and even at graduation ceremonies in a week of activism aimed at electing lawmakers who support gun reforms.

Parkland student David Hogg and the New York-based organization HeadCount organized the registration drive after school shootings in Florida, Texas and Indiana.

They say students at more than 1,000 schools in 46 states are participating, with most starting their drives Tuesday. The group says it takes less than two minutes to register.

Hogg is the Majory Stoneman Douglas senior who has been a vocal critic of lawmakers who accept money from the National Rifle Association.

The activists hope to boost the typically low voter turnout among young voters, especially during mid-term elections.
