Painter Dies Days After Touching Power Lines

Posted

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Jacksonville painter who was hospitalized last week after being shocked by power lines has died.

Local media outlets report that 50-year-old Anthony Smith died Sunday at a Gainesville hospital.

Police say Smith was using a cherry picker lift in Jacksonville's north Riverside area Thursday morning when he or the machine brushed a power line.

OSHA protocols say workers should either stay at least 10 feet away from power lines or make arrangements with the local power authority.
