CAPE CORAL, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a southwest Florida water park will remain closed for several days after an overnight fire destroyed the attraction's main building.
The News-Press (http://goo.gl/EYoqFS) reports that Cape Coral firefighters responded to the Sun Splash Family Waterpark around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say the building that housed a restaurant, gift shop and guest services was engulfed in flames when the first fire units arrived. Investigators believe a malfunctioning golf cart parked at the building likely started fire, causing about $700,000 in damage.
A city spokeswoman says the park could reopen this weekend but suggested early next week might be a more realistic.
No injuries were reported.
