TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida woman charged with coercing her son to kill his father was dealt a victory by the Florida Supreme Court when it ruled that her interview with police can't be used at trial.
The court ruled Thursday that police should have read Sharon Myers her Miranda rights before two interrogations that preceded her first-degree murder charge in the June 2008 slaying of 50-year-old husband Gary Kenney.
Myers' son, Darryl Kenney, and his friend, Rubin Nero, are serving life sentences for the June 2008 murder in Merritt Island. Kenney met Nero while in prison, and they killed Kenney's father shortly after being released.
Investigators found hundreds of letters Kenney's mother wrote to him while in prison saying she and his sister were abused and she wanted him to die.
