BRASELTON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in north Georgia say no charges are expected in the death of a 19-month-old Michigan boy who was fatally struck by an SUV.
Braselton, Georgia Assistant Police Chief Lou Solis tells The Times of Gainesville 19-year-old David Sirb was accidentally struck by a man who had stopped to speak with the child's father Sunday afternoon.
Solis says the man asked if any children were nearby before he began backing up. Solis says the boy's father checked behind the vehicle and said there weren't.
Solis says Sirb wandered behind the vehicle as it was backing up and was struck. The boy was taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
Solis says the boy's death appears accidental and no charges are expected.
