Man Killed, 2 Children Injured in School Bus Crash

COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been killed and two children were injured in a school bus crash in suburban Atlanta.

Newton County Sheriff's Office Jeff Alexander investigator tells local news media that Mark Griffin died in the crash around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Griffin was driving a Nissan Maxima, attempting to make a left turn before turning in front of the oncoming school bus.

Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis says Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alexander says the two children were on the school bus during the time of the accident. The children both had minor injuries and were treated at the scene. They were released to their families.

The bus was carrying 26 students.
