WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida man has been convicted of killing and dismembering his landlord.

A Palm Beach County jury found 51-year-old Scott Tobiassen guilty of first-degree murder Monday. The Palm Beach Post reports that he faces life in prison.

Tobiassen didn't deny bludgeoning Gerard Longo to death in 2013 at the Greenacres house where they both lived, but a public defender argued for a manslaughter conviction, which would have meant a maximum sentence of 15 years.

But prosecutors said Tobiassen wanted to teach Longo a lesson. They say Tobiassen was upset because he had lost his job as a crane operator, and Longo wouldn't give him time to get back on his feet.
