JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida police officer fatally shot a man while serving a search warrant related to a drug-dealing case.
Jacksonville Undersheriff Pat Ivey said at a news conference that the unidentified man was holding a gun and turned toward SWAT team officer Nick Rodgers when Rodgers was serving the "high-risk" warrant Wednesday.
Ivey described the man as a black male, but did not release his name. He said another man, two women, and children were in the house at the time of the shooting, but there were no reports of other injuries.
Ivey says weapons and cocaine were found in the house.
Rodgers is on routine paid administrative leave.
