DADE CITY, Fla. (AP) - Jurors have recommended death for a Tampa Bay area man convicted in a 2006 drug-related slaying.

The Pasco County jury made its recommendation Wednesday after convicting 29-year-old Tyree Jenkins earlier this week of two counts of first-degree murder. A judge will make the final decision.

Authorities say 17-year-old Derek Pieper and 18-year-old Raymond Veluz approached Jenkins and Luc Pierre-Charles after a party and asked about buying some marijuana. The older men forced the teens into a car and drove them to a rural area near Trilby, where the teens were forced to their knees and shot in the back.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Pierre-Charles was convicted of the murders in April and sentenced to life in prison.

Jenkins was already serving a life sentence for an unrelated 2008 murder in Hillsborough County.
