PLAINS, Ga. (AP) - Two of Georgia's best-known celebrities are using painting as a backdrop for a fund-raising event in the south Georgia town of Plains.

Organizers of "Painting, Paula and a President" say the Jan. 23 event will feature former President Jimmy Carter and celebrity chef Paula Deen.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that people can give $500 to attend a painting class with Carter and Deen and taught by Atlanta-area artist James Richards.

Other opportunities include a $2,000 package that includes a room at the Plains Inn for the Jan. 23 "Saturday Night Sleepover" in the historic inn that Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter helped to restore.

The newspaper reports that "Painting, Paula and a President" will benefit Plains Better Hometown, which maintains Carter's hometown; and Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historic Site.
