MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Embattled Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley faces a call for his impeachment two weeks after admitting sexually charged remarks to a female aide.
Republican Rep. Ed Henry introduced the articles of impeachment Tuesday in the Alabama Legislature.
Henry says Bentley has betrayed the trust of voters, but the impeachment effort is considered a longshot endeavor in the Alabama Legislature.
House Rules Committee Mac McCutcheon says the committee will vet the proposal to see whether there are grounds for impeachment. McCutcheon says he doubted the process would be complete before the legislative session ends next month.
