LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. (AP) - Gwinnett County prosecutors say the case of an off-duty sheriff shooting a real estate agent at a metro Atlanta model home will be reviewed by a grand jury.
Multiple news outlets report Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said Thursday that a grand jury will hear details about the shooting on May 3 involving Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.
Hill told a 911 operator that the shooting of Gwenevere McCord was an accident. He was later charged with reckless conduct.
McCord is a real estate agent. She and Hill were in an empty model home when the shooting occurred.
McCord's father, Ernest McCord, has said Hill was teaching his daughter to defend herself when a gun went off.
