MIAMI (AP) - Authorities say a 13-year-old girl who was wounded in a South Florida drive-by shooting is expected to make a full recovery.

Miami-Dade police say the girl was hit in the torso Thursday night. Detectives aren't certain if the girl and her family were the intended targets. They only recently moved into the southwest Miami-Dade home.

Police say the girl and six friends and family members were standing outside the home just before midnight when two people pulled up in a red van and opened fire. The girl was the only one hit.

The Miami-Herald reports that family members began driving her to the hospital but were intercepted by police. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and took the girl a nearby children's hospital.
