ATLANTA (AP) - The agency responsible for voter registration in Georgia says some people who tried to register online this weekend received error messages.
In a statement on Tuesday, Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office blamed the errors on a technology provider for the Department of Driver Services. The statement says an unsuccessful update to a security certificate affected the driver services agency's ability to verify voter registration applications submitted online for several days.
The statement says anyone who tried to register online since Friday should check their status online at mvp.sos.ga.gov .
Voter registration information can be updated until Oct. 11. That's also the deadline to register to vote in Georgia.
Officials said the problem was fixed by Monday afternoon.
