The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the
* Flood Advisory for...
Central Elbert County in northeastern Georgia...
* Until 515 PM EST Wednesday.
* At 1106 AM EST, Beaverdam Creek remains out of its banks due
to heavier rainfall from last night. Therefore the Flood
Advisory will be allowed to continue until floodwaters recede
below Action/Advisory Stage.
* The following streamgauge has exceeded Action Stage:
Beaverdam Creek at Brewers Mill Rd. above Elberton.
Current Stage: 7.43 feet and cresting.
Forecast: Beaverdam Creek will begin to recede early this
afternoon and fall below Action Stage early this evening.
Action/Advisory Stage: 7.0 feet.
Minor Flood Stage: 9.0 feet.
Impacts: At 7.0 feet: Beaverdam Creek is exceeding its banks
and will be flooding low-lying areas adjacent to the stream
including near the Red Minnow Restaurant on Brewers Bridge Rd,
and low-spots near the following dirt road crossings:
Winns Mill Rd., Brickyard Rd., and Horse Farm Rd.
* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Middleton, Dewy Rose, Bowman and Lake Russell.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Only when it is safe to do so, please report floodwaters or
landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the National
Weather Service by calling toll-free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by
posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP.
Your message should describe the event and the specific location
where it occurred, including roadways, nearby cross streets, stream
names, and other landmarks.
The Flood Warning is cancelled for
The Big Creek near Cumming.
* This takes effect immediately.
* Until this afternoon.
* At 11 AM Wednesday the stage was 5.4 feet...and falling.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* The creek will continue to fall.
* At 5 feet...Bankfull conditions continue to expand into low lying
areas of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at Atlanta
Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Portions of the sidewalk on the Big
Creek Greenway under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road
begin to flood. A portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be
covered with around one foot of water. The water level will begin
reaching the bottom of the boardwalk along several sections of the
Greenway.
