MUCH OF THE CAROLINA MOUNTAINS...PORTIONS OF THE GEORGIA
MOUNTAINS...AND THE FOOTHILLS AND NORTHERN PIEDMONT OF NORTH
CAROLINA...
.A strong area of high pressure north of the region will bring
cold air southward across the western Carolinas through
Wednesday. Returning moisture will produce a wintry mix of
precipitation in some areas of the Blue Ridge mountains of
western North Carolina this afternoon into the evening. This will
begin to transition to freezing rain this evening, expanding to
include portions of the South Carolina and Georgia mountains as
well as the Interstate 40 corridor in the North Carolina Piedmont
and foothills.

PM EST WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up to
one tenth of an inch expected.
* WHERE...In South Carolina, the mountains of Oconee and Pickens
Counties. In Georgia, Rabun County.
* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 4 PM EST Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Slippery road conditions are possible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain
will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads. Slow down
and use caution while driving.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Warning for
The Pew Creek near Lawrenceville .
* From this afternoon until further notice.
* At 315 PM Tuesday the stage was 10.1 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 11 feet.
* At 11 feet, minor flooding of the natural flood plain begins. The
parking lot of the Saratoga Swim and Tennis Club downstream from the
river gauge begins to flood.
