...A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT ELBERT...SOUTHEASTERN

HART...ABBEVILLE AND NORTHWESTERN GREENWOOD COUNTIES UNTIL 345 PM

EST...

At 300 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge of a cluster

of thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles south of

Hartwell to 5 miles southwest of Elberton, and moving east at 60 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...

Abbeville, Elberton, Ware Shoals, Calhoun Falls, Due West, Lake

Secession, Donalds, Hodges, Lowndesville and Russell State Park.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph and very heavy rainfall rates up to 2 inches

per hour will be possible in these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

The combination of gusty winds and saturated soil conditions will

cause scattered trees and power lines to fall. Seek shelter inside an

interior room.

Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as

ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded

roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek

higher ground if threatened by flood waters.

strong thunderstorms along a line extending from northeast of

Atlanta to west of Warner Robbins. The storms were moving east at 40

to 45 mph. These storms may intensify as they move toward the

Central Savannah River Area.

HAZARD...gusty winds 40 to 50 mph.

IMPACT...expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of

light, unsecured objects.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters on Lake Strom Thurmond should move to shore and seek shelter.

Strong, erratic wind gusts and lightning are possible. If you can

hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
