FSU Gives Another Big Raise and Bonus to President Thrasher

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - For the second year in a row, Florida State University President John Thrasher is getting a big boost in pay.

FSU trustees on Friday voted to boost Thrasher's annual salary by 10 percent to $521,210. Trustees also agreed to give him a $100,000 bonus for his performance. Last year, Thrasher was given a $90,000 bonus.

Trustees said they were giving him a raise because they have given good marks on the work he's done since becoming president in 2014.

Former FSU President Eric Barron had a base salary of nearly $407,000, but over a three-year period, he earned bonuses worth another $556,000. Barron stepped down two years ago to take the top job at Penn State University.

Thrasher is an attorney and former state senator.
