DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Two South Florida men died when their car went into a canal and submerged upside down.
The car was spotted early Saturday in Davie, where 25-year-old Matthew Salenieks and 23-year-old David Dodds met as neighbors when they were children.
Davie police Lt. Ed Smith tells the Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1OhGR27 ) divers saw one body in the white Lexus. As the vehicle was hoisted out of the water by a crane, they saw the second body.
Investigators believe Dodds was the driver.
Police say the car was found just feet from a small bridge that crosses the canal in western Broward County.
The newspaper reports Salenieks had returned Wednesday from New Zealand and was hanging out with his best friend. Dodds would have turned 24 on New Year's Eve.
