Former butcher files suit against Publix for violating food safety regulations

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - A former butcher at the Southwood Publix is filling a lawsuit against the super market claiming she was fired for reporting food safety violations.

In the suit, Tracy Aiken claims on several occasions other employee's were intentionally mislabeling the 'sell-by' date on chickens and the meats.

She also claims that the machinery was not cleaned up to FDA standards.

Aiken also says in her claims that she was assaulted numerous times by the manager for pointing out the altered 'sell-by' dates.

Aiken was employed as a meat cutter for 14 years starting in 2001. She was fired in January 2017.
